Nazareth Today
Today, Nazareth
is an inviting, progressive community that welcomes all. Many ethnic and
religious groups have joined the community, bringing their customs and
traditions, which have enriched the citizenry as a whole. Nazareth maintains its
heritage, which is evidenced by inclusion in the National Register of Historic
Places and the recognition of its unique historical district.
Nazareth is the
home of the Martin Guitar Company, Essroc Cement Company, Moravian Hall Square,
the Nazareth YMCA, and the Andretti racing family.
Professional
offices, retail shops, agriculture, and industries producing textiles,
chemicals, plastics and cement demonstrate an active economic climate. Residents
enjoy recreation in their community parks and nearby Jacobsburg State Park, as
well as regional hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking, and international auto races
at the Nazareth Speedway.
The Nazareth
Area, which is located at the center of Northampton County, contains some of the
most picturesque countryside in Pennsylvania. It is a blend of communities
including the townships of Bushkill, Lower Nazareth, Upper Nazareth and the
boroughs of Nazareth, Stockertown and Tatamy.
Situated at the
foot of the Blue Mountain in the Lehigh Valley, Nazareth offers convenient
access via major transportation arteries to Philadelphia (60 miles), New York
City (90 miles), and the Pocono Mountains (25 miles).
